I was honored with a Libester Award Nomination by my good friend Tiffany over at Tiffany Lane Handmade. She is always an inspiration to me, and not to mention a crafting queen who also creates beautiful handmade cards. Make sure to check her blog out! So as part of the deal, if you're nominated you answer the set of questions below. So here we go!
1. Why do you blog?
Blogging is a great way to share things I've done and interact with others. If I'm being completely honest, it sometimes feels like a necessary evil since I do use it as way to support and keep my portfolio/site updated. However, I always enjoy creating the posts once i sit down to write or craft them. It's fun to browse through past posts in chronological order to be reminded of old projects and fun memories.
2. What’s your favorite past time?
Well, it seems all my free time is spent in the kitchen, but i love to cook and bake, so really no complaints there. I love to paint when I find the time as well, but there's nothing quite like relaxing on the beach with a good book.
3. Do you have any pets? If so, tell me a little about them!
Does my husband's fish tank count? I don't really consider the fish "pets" but we do have a beautiful 50 gallon fresh water tank with all sort of different fish, mini shrimps and snails.
4. If you had the option of going to the desert, ocean, or mountains, which would you choose hands down and what time of year?
Definitely the ocean! We live 5 minutes from the beach and I'm lucky enough to have an ocean view from my desk, but it's still not enough. There's nothing quite like a summer's day at the beach and coming home all salty, tan, and ready for a backyard BBQ.
5. Is blogging your full time gig? If not, what is?
Nope! Maybe someday. But for now, I am art director for a Christian publication called Worship Leader magazine that serves worship teams worldwide. It's a huge blessing to be both artistic AND be able to serve in ministry.
6. Sweet or savory?
Hmm definitely depends on my mood, but if I absolutely had to choose, i would choose savory. I feel like there are a lot more options there. Plus, if we're talking snacks, it's all about the salt for me. Chips and guac anyone?
7. Where did you grow up?
I'm a born and raised Southern California girl. I grew up in the same house my entire life, and um, ironically, living in my parents guest house addition with my husband after moving back home from college. But honestly, it's a great setup and we have zero complaints. Especially when your husband is racking up the doctorate student loans...
8. What is or would be number one on your bucket list?
Hm this is a hard one! I guess, when it comes down to it in the end, I want to raise a loving family and have mini adventures traveling the world and experiencing all sorts of delicious cuisines and drinks.
9. What kind of music do you normally listen to?
I love all types of music - everything from indie folk to pop to rock. It's way too hard to choose but some all time favs and recent loves include Daughter, Death Cab for Cutie, St. Vincent, Florence and the Machine, City and Colour, Regina Spektor, Muse, Joshua James, The Shins, Ellie Goulding, Lana Del Rey, Lovelife, Broken Bells, Coldplay, Josh Ritter, The National, and I've been known to get down to some Katy Perry.
10. Bright colors or neutral tones?
I love bright, beautiful colors! Designing and painting wouldn't be the same without them. But when it comes to my wardrobe everything seems to be gray soooo yeah.
11. Tell us one thing about yourself your readers don’t already know.
Well I'm a really big nerd at heart. I love playing board games and video games. I will beat you at Mario Kart and have beaten Zelda: The Ocarina of Time at least 3 times on N64. And I'm proud. A little shameful. But mostly proud.
